All About Tsokolate at Tsokolateria

One of the things I look forward to when visiting the Philippines is exploring local restaurants and savoring the rich flavors of Filipino food. On this recent trip, I finally had the chance to visit Tsokolateria, a Filipino café that I’ve been eyeing for quite some time. Tsokolateria was founded in 2015 and has since become known for its unique way of infusing local cacao in both its sweet and savory dishes. And of course, their signature Tablea House Blend hot chocolate, handmade the traditional way, is what they’re most famous for.

I first came across Tsokolateria after watching an interview with Happy Ongpauco, a Filipino restaurateur and entrepreneur whose creativity and fashion style I’ve admired for years. After that interview, I promised myself that I would visit her restaurants when I returned to the Philippines. Lo and behold, I finally got my chance when I stumbled upon the newly opened Tsokolateria branch in Greenhills Mall, San Juan.

Although I had already eaten lunch with my two kids at another place, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stop by Tsokolateria for a quick snack. I was craving their famous tsokolate, and what a delight it was to find out that they serve bibingka and quezo, two Filipino delicacies that bring back fond memories of my childhood. For me, bibingka and puto bumbong always signal that Christmas is just around the corner, and this little treat was like an early holiday gift.

While I indulged in my childhood favorite bibingka, my kids tried the sizzling soufflé, and I was so happy to see them enjoy every bite. And let me tell you, Tsokolateria did not disappoint! Their Tablea House Blend hot chocolate was served in a traditional batirol, which you can whisk to bring out the natural, rich flavors of the tsokolate. The chocolate was thick, perfectly hot, and not too sweet—just the way I like it.

The whole dining experience at Tsokolateria was exceptional. The ambiance, the quality of food, and of course, the tsokolate itself were all top-notch. This café quickly became one of my favorite places during this trip, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in the Philippines.

If you ever find yourself visiting the Philippines make sure to visit Tsokolateria. Whether you’re a fan of hot chocolate or want to explore their creative use of local cacao, this is a dining experience you shouldn’t miss. As for me, I can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu!
